Wednesday, July 13, 2011 – 3:30pm SYMBOLICA arrives via Blue Lakes bus in downtown Charlevoix, MI and unloads students at the Odmark (East)Pavilion on the east side of Bridge Street (Michigan Highway 31) between E. Mason St. and E. Antrim St. See Gary Stutzman. The group will have an opportunity to run through the program on stage at this time. This is an outdoor pavilion and special lighting will not be available. You will share this performance with ZIRKA, a Ukrainian Dance Group from Canada. Please work with the director of Zirka to arrange the performances so you cover costume changes for each other. Following the rehearsal, Symbolica members will be assigned to home stays by Gary Stutzman who is in charge of the event and home stays. (Symbolica will have the evening meal with host families. 7:00pm Joint performance at the Odmark Pavilion in Charlevoix with ZIRKA, Ukrainian Dance Ensemble. The performance is FREE and open to the community. Following the performance: Hosts pick up the performers following the performance and take home for the night. Thursday, July 14, 2011 – 10:30am After breakfast at the with the host family, meet at the Odmark Pavilion parking lot to board the Blue Lake bus. Take Blue Lake bus to 4000 Main Street, Bay Harbor, MI 49770. Host families please send a sack lunch. 11:15 Check out stage on the grassy area near the marina at the end of Main Street. Be prepared to set up your own sound system. 12:30pm 35 to 45-minute performance at Bay Harbor. Eat sack lunch following the show. 1:30pm Take the Blue Lake bus to tour Kilwin’s Chocolate Factory located at 1050 Bay View Road, Petoskey, MI 49770
Symbolica arrives in Petoskey at Bay View to meet host families. This begins the Petoskey Host family schedule.
3:00pm Take the Blue Lake bus and arrive at Bay View at Voorheis Hall 1660 Encampment, Bay View MI 49770 to be assigned to your host families. Blue lake bus will be released at this point. Early evening meal with host families. 6:15pm Host families deliver Symbolica to corner of Main Street and State Street in Harbor Springs for Street Musique performance. This is not a staged event. You will perform on the street. Select program accordingly. Arrive dressed to perform. 7:00pm Perform for Street Musique in Harbor springs. FREE event open to the public. 8:30pm Following the performance: Meet host families and return home with the host families for the night. Friday, July 15, 2011 – 9:00am Following breakfast, host families of the Symbolica stage crew (they will inform you if they are on this crew) deliver stage crew to Pennsylvania Park in downtown Petoskey to check out the stage and sound system. Host family, please send a sack lunch with the crew. 10:30am – 11:30am All Festival Participants including dancers rehearse “Let there be Peace on Earth” at Crooked Tree Arts Center 461 East Mitchell, Petoskey. Host families, please send a sack lunch with the group. Please wear your own group T-shirt. 11:30am All festival groups will walk to Pennsylvania Park in downtown Petoskey to perform and watch other groups. Symbolica performs at 12:00noon. Please change into costumes at Crooked Tree Arts Center prior to walking to the park. Following the performance in the park, Symbolica will go by bus directly to the Cheboygan Opera House, 403 N. Huron St, Cheboygan, MI 49721 for a rehearsal on stage. The evening meal will be provided by the Opera House before the performance. 7:00pm Be back stage in costume ready to dance. 7:30pm FESTIVAL DANCE CONCERT at the Cheboygan Opera House FEATURING ALL DANCE GROUPS. TICKET REQUIRED Adults $15, Students through grade 8 $5. 9:30pm At the end of the concert, Symbolica will return by bus to Bay View. 10:00pm approximately, meet host families at Bay View and return home for the night. Saturday, July 16, 2011 – 8:00am Breakfast with host families. Host family, please send a snack with them to the rehearsal. 9:45am All singers and dancers should arrive at the John M. Hall Auditorium (1715, Encampment Avenue, Petoskey, MI 49770) at Bay View to get ready for the full rehearsal for the Gala Concert that evening. Please send with a snack. Wear your own T-shirts. 10:00am – 1:00pm All Festival performers will rehearse for the Festival Gala Concert at the John M. Hall Auditorium in Bay View. 1:00 pm Host families, please pick up Symbolica and take home for lunch. Free time until time to return to the auditorium for the evening show. Take them swimming or whatever you wish for a fun family experience. 2:00pm Lunch for Directors (2 from each group) for all festival groups at the _to be determined. Transport provided. 6:45pm All choir members should be at Bay View dressed for the Festival Gala Concert. 7:30pm Festival Gala Concert at John M. Hall Auditorium in Bay View, featuring all festival groups. This is a ticketed event. Each host family will receive two free tickets to this concert. Additional tickets: Adults $15, students through high school $5. 9:30pm Host families pick up Symbolica following the performance and take home for final night with hosts. Sunday, July 17, 2011 10:00am. Return Symbolica to Bay View at Voorheis Hall 1660 Encampment, Bay View MI 49770 to load the Blue Lake bus for departure to the next site on the Symbolica tour. Have a safe trip.
